DIFD -- January 29th
Jerome Hockey is excited for this weekend's 9th Annual DIFD game v Coffman! These two Dublin teams join together to support and bring light to mental health awareness.
DIFD is a grassroots movement that was formed after the tragic death by suicide of Daron Richardson, just before Thanksgiving in
2010. Following Daron's death, her friends, teammates and parents joined together to form DIFD in hopes of encouraging all youth to take care of their mental health.
There are 3 basic goals of DIFD:
Raise Awareness Inspire Conversations Transform Youth Mental Health
By focusing on these goals, it is hoped that events like ours can erase the stigma associated with discussing mental health so that our youth can begin to talk about how they are feeling, and ultimately get the help they may need.
Bring your friends and come early. Game starts 6pm
• Raffle with great prizes including CBJ tickets and other prizes
• Chalkboard wall of positive self-talk
• DIFD wristband and apparel sales
• Admission /Donation funds will be donated to 2 local mental health agencies
• Presence of two local mental health agencies to answer questions from kids and parents
Together, we can help to raise awareness, inspire conversations and transform youth mental health. Through events like these, we can remove the stigma to make it normal and okay for our kids to talk about how they're feeling!
Thank you for your support!
